Barbara is a graduate of Rutgers University where she holds a BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts. She was a member of the MGSA Modern Dance Company and the L.T. (Hip Hop) Dance Company , where she performed in such places as the State Theatre and Legendary Apollo Theatre. Barbara has been an instructor since 1990, currently teaching classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre , Contemporary, Lyrical and Production. She is Acrobatic Arts Certified and follows the Professional Curriculum for Acrobatic Dance. She has choreographed routines at regional and national level competitions. Her routines have won multiple Overall and High Score Awards, Special Awards, Diamond Awards, as well as Technique, Entertainment , Precision and Outstanding Choreography Awards. Barbara choreographed the Spring Musicals at Matawan Regional High School for 11 years. Her choreography has been seen in productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, Applause, Cinderella, Fame, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Curtains, Back to the 80’s and The Wedding Singer. She is a two-time recipient and three-time nominee of the Basie Award for “Best Choreography in a High School Musical” from Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ. Barbara has choreographed for various festivals, church choirs, cheerleading, pom teams, body builders and fitness competitors. She currently choreographs audition solos for NFL dance teams, as well as competition routines at studios throughout New Jersey. Barbara is excited to share her love of dance with the community and bring Studio B to her Hometown of Matawan!
Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. Mike has performed in circus for over 20 year's as a member of the Wallenda family. Setting a Guinness Book of World Record, performing an 8 person pyramid, 4 tiers high, 30 feet off the ground, without any safety devices. He has performed all over the world and has been the head of rigging and head coach for one of the largest youth performing arts circus schools in the world. During his time as the head training coach, Mike worked extensively with all levels of acrobatics and tumbling. Moving from performing on the high wire, he has fit many roles such as Production Manager, Lighting Designer, Sound Engineer and Technical Director. Mike has filtered into the events and entertainment industry and now owns a full service events and entertainment company, Silver Wire Productions. Mike is very excited to work with such an amazing staff, dancers and parents here at Studio B!
A native of New Jersey, Heather J. Wilson began her dance training at an early age. At age nine she began training at the American Ballet Center of the Joffery Ballet, New York City. While studying in New York, she continued studying in New Jersey with the Monmouth Ballet on a full merit scholarship. She then performed for five years with the Princeton Ballet Company II, studying at the school on scholarship. Ms. Wilson received her modern dance training at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University and gained musical theatre experience performing in numerous musicals with Plays-in-the-Park, Edison NJ, among them, Oklahoma!, Pippin, Annie Get Your Gun, Sweet Charity, and A Chorus Line.
Heather has choreographed and taught dance throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania for 30 years. In 1995, Heather founded the River Ballet Academy and Company, and in 2000 founded Bach Ballet, where she created several original ballets, Wolves, in collaboration with Ulzii Davaadorj, Twelve Dancing Princesses, Babes in Toyland , and The Enchanted Cap . Heather’s inspiring and personal training methods have created vibrant dancers who have been accepted into prestigious dance schools and companies, including Boston Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Joffery Ballet School, Kirov Washington, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Nutmeg Conservatory. Ms Wilson is mother of four children, and the proprietor of Ballerina Biker Photography. She is Certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, and is currently authoring a book on effectively utilizing visualization in dance instruction.
Wendy Stein is originally from Long Island. She began her classical ballet training in NYC with Andre Eglevsky , Robert Joffrey and has continued her study of ballet with Finis Jhung. In her teens she studied modern dance at the Martha Graham School and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, South and Central America performing as a soloist with Larry Richardson, Yuriko, Pearl Lang and was on the staff of the New School in New York City. Miss Wendy currently teaches in several professional dance studios in the tri state area. She was a dance instructor at the Performing Arts High School in Middlesex County, New Jersey. In addition to her teaching commitments, Miss Wendy travels to many cities in the US Judging Dance Competitions both at Regional and National levels. She also conducts Intensives, Workshops and Master Classes in ballet, pre pointe, pointe and modern. As an accomplished ballet/modern dancer and teacher Miss Wendy is totally committed to giving back. “I teach from my heart, I want to give my students everything I know”. She is intensely passionate about dance and totally devoted to her students. She has instructed students of all ages. Miss Wendy has choreographed many award winning pieces in both classical and modern dance. Many students of Miss Wendy have been very successful in the dance industry performing on Broadway, TV, film, and
stage. Dance Studio Life Magazine did a beautiful profile on Miss Wendy.
Originally from New Jersey, Sydney Price started her dance training at the age of 3 and has continued ever since. She trained on the East Coast at EPIC Dance Company, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and many different competitions and conventions. Throughout her younger career, Sydney earned numerous scholarships and titles such as Dance Spirit Magazine’s Future Star Award and Miss Dancers Inc 2015.
Right before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an education as a commercial dance major at Studio School in Downtown Los Angeles, she performed as a principal dancer at the Dizzy Feet Foundation Gala, founded by Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman, in front of many different celebrities and reputable names in the industry. This performance also sparked her journey with being signed by MSA Talent Agency.
Throughout her career in California, Sydney danced in many different music and concept videos for names such as Kym Herjavec, Daniel Ezlarow, Ambrose Respicio, and Thailand pop star, Patee Sarasin. She graduated magna cum laude from Studio School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commerical Dance in May of 2019. Sydney looks forward to the opportunity to teach younger dancers and inspire others throughout her career.
Duane is an active and versatile dancer, and has trained under various professionals including Deanna Destito, John Burella, and Ashle Dawson. He has been a part of "Dead Mans Party" as a featured performer for the last 2 years at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Duane has mastered disciplines in Hip Hop, including popping and street jazz. He
continues to train weekly in all hip hop styles, including locking and breaking. Aside from hip hop, he is efficient in contemporary and jazz. He has won numerous awards at various competitions. His work can be seen at competitive events, festivals, and showcases across New Jersey. Duane is active in the competition circuit.
When Gina was 4 years old, her mom thought it was time to move from the fireplace stage inside the family room, into a real dance studio where Gina’s passion for dance truly began, and has continued to grow ever since. Gina trained at a local studio in NJ for 13 years. She competed in various dance competitions at both the regional and national levels. Gina has won multiple High Score Overalls and special awards such as “Fast Feet” and “Crystal Clear Sounds” for her tap performances. Throughout high school, Gina performed in theater productions such as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ SuperStar and the Wizard of OZ with St. John’s Playhouse. She also played the role of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland winning a Basie Award for Best Supporting Actress in a High School Musical. In addition, she was a member and choreographer of Raritan High School’s Dance Troupe and Performance Workshop Program for 4 years.
As a young adult, she danced and choreographed for Rutgers Performing Dance Company and competed with the team for four years at University of Delaware’s Evolve Dance Competition. After graduating from Rutgers, she continued to dance post-grad with Continuum Dance CO in NYC and continues her dance training at Broadway Dance Center. She continues to share her love of dance by teaching students of all ages, hoping to spread positive light to her students on and off the dance floor.
Jayme Gordano began dancing at the age of 2.5. She trained with Barbara Gonzalez from pre-dance all the way to pre-professional level. Jayme competed at the regional and national level for over 8 years. She has performed in benefits such as Hurricane Katrina Relief, Sunshine Kids Foundation, Disney’s Magic Music Days and The Marked Dance Project. Jayme graduated from Georgian Court University with a BA in dance and is a certified instructor with Acrobatic Arts. She continues her dance education by attending workshops, master classes, intensives and teachers conventions. Jayme has been teaching for 9 years at studios throughout New Jersey, specializing in hip hop, contemporary, jazz, acrobatics, lyrical and pom. She is excited to join the staff at Studio B and to share her love of dance with the students.
Melissa started dancing at the age of three at a local dance studio. Her interest has always been in the disciplines of tap, jazz, and acrobatics. She began competing and performing in showcases at the age of 8 and continued through high school. She attended the dance program at Red Bank Performing Arts High School, then obtained a degree in Business Management. After college, Melissa taught tap, jazz, and acrobatics for several years at a studio where she previously studied.
Her passion is working with children to improve their self-image, achieve their goals, and most importantly watch them grow and enjoy dance. Over the years she has volunteered her time to work with children at local camps, school performances, and privately to improve specific skills.
Melissa is a certified Acrobatics instructor through the Acrobatic Arts Program, and holds a safety certification with Youth Protection Advocates for Dance.
She remains very connected to the dance world, attends classes in NYC, and enjoys watching her daughter have the same love for the arts that she has.
Laura was just 2 years old when she began training at a local dance studio. By the age of 9, Laura was competitively training in numerous forms of dance, but excelled at contemporary, jazz, and acrobatics throughout her career. In 2018, Laura received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts-Dance from Middlesex County College. She received the “Excellence in the Study of Dance” award for her dedication in class and with the Dance Ensemble. Laura currently performs with The Artistic Visions Dance Company and has choreographed numerous pieces for the NJAHPERD Annual Conventions.
Kerry trained for 15 years at a local dance studio. She trained under the instruction of Barbara Gonzalez and competed at the regional and national levels. She graduated from Matawan Regional High School where she was a member of the Huskies Dance Team. She attended The College of New Jersey where she competed at the collegiate level for 1 year and after transferring performed and choreographed for the Rutgers Performing Dance Company. Kerry is a recent graduate from Rutgers University with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and now attends Graduate School for her Masters in Education. This is Kerry's second year teaching at Studio B specializing in pre dance and mini level classes. She is a certified Pre Dance Instructor with Acrobatic Arts. Kerry continues her dance education by attending master classes, intensives and teacher conventions throughout the year. Kerry is beyond excited for Season 2 at Studio B.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Phillip Solomon has had dancing and performing ingrained in him from a very young age. The son of two musicians, Phillip has utilized his natural talent and ability to devote himself to his craft and the art of performance, choreographing for studios and colleges throughout the tri-state area. As a singer, dancer, and actor, Phil has performed in productions of RENT, In the Heights, The Wild Party, and Altar Boyz, in addition to being featured on the TODAY show and National campaigns on MTV. Dedicated to helping young performers reach their full potential, he has been recognized on both the regional and national level for his choreography in the genres of hip hop, street jazz, and musical theatre.
Ashlyn began dancing at the age of three, and has never stopped. She enjoys every style of dance but has a special interest in hip-hop and tap. She has been competing at the regional and national level for nine years and is proud to be a Captain of the Studio B Dance Company for the 2020-2021 Season. Ashlyn has taken her love of dance into Matawan Regional High School where she is a proud four year member of the Dance Academy and four year member of the Matawan Huskies Dance Team. She began volunteering as a teachers assistant at the age of 15 and is honored to be this year‘s recipient of the work-study program here at Studio B. She hopes to instill her love of dance to the younger dancers, along with having fun.
