Meet Our Faculty

Miss Barbara - Director


Barbara is a graduate of Rutgers University where she holds a BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts.  She was a member of the MGSA Modern Dance Company and the L.T. (Hip Hop) Dance Company , where she performed in such places as the State Theatre and Legendary Apollo Theatre.  Barbara has been an instructor since 1990, currently teaching classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre , Contemporary, and Production. She is Acrobatic Arts Certified and follows the Professional Curriculum for Acrobatic Dance. She has choreographed many routines for regional and national level competitions.  Her routines have won multiple Overall and High Score awards, Special Awards, Diamond Awards, as well as Technique, Entertainment and Outstanding  Choreography Awards. Barbara choreographed the Spring Musicals at Matawan Regional High School for 11 years.  Her choreography has been seen in productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, Applause, Cinderella, Fame, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Curtains, Back to the 80’s and The Wedding Singer.  She is a two-time recipient and three-time nominee of the Basie Award for “Best Choreography in a High School Musical” from Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ. Barbara has choreographed for various festivals, church choirs, cheerleading, pom teams, body builders and fitness competitors. She currently choreographs audition solos for NFL dance teams, as well as competition routines at studios throughout New Jersey. Barbara is excited to share her love of dance with the community and bring Studio B to her Hometown of Matawan! 

Mike - Assistant Director


Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. Mike has performed in circus for the last 20 year's as a member of the Wallenda family. Setting a Guinness Book of World Records, performing an 8 person pyramid, 4 tiers high, 30 feet off the ground, without any safety devises. He has performed all over the world and has been the head of rigging and head coach for one of the largest youth performing arts circus schools in the world. During his time as the head training coach, Mike worked extensively with all levels of acrobatics and tumbling.  Moving from performing on the high wire, he has fit many roles such as Production Manager, Lighting Designer, Sound Engineer and Technical Director. Mike has filtered into the events and entertainment industry

 and now owns a full service events and entertainment company. Silver Wire Productions. Mike is very excited to work with such an amazing staff, dancers and parents here at Studio B!

Miss Heather


A native of New Jersey, Heather J. Wilson began her dance training at an early age. At age nine she began training at the American Ballet Center of the Joffery Ballet, New York City. While studying in New York, she continued studying in New Jersey with the Monmouth Ballet on a full merit scholarship. She then performed for five years with the Princeton Ballet Company II, studying at the school on scholarship. Ms. Wilson received her modern dance training at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University and gained musical theatre experience performing in numerous musicals with Plays-in-the-Park, Edison NJ, among them,  Oklahoma!, Pippin, Annie Get Your Gun, Sweet Charity, and A Chorus Line. 

Heather has choreographed and taught dance throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania for 30 years. In 1995, Heather founded the River Ballet Academy and Company, and in 2000 founded Bach Ballet, where she created several original ballets,  Wolves, in collaboration with Ulzii Davaadorj,  Twelve Dancing Princesses, Babes in Toyland , and  The Enchanted Cap . Heather’s inspiring and personal training methods have created vibrant dancers who have been accepted into prestigious dance schools and companies, including Boston Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Joffery Ballet School, Kirov Washington, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Nutmeg Conservatory. Ms Wilson is mother of four children, and the proprietor of Ballerina Biker Photography. She is Certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, and is currently authoring a book on effectively utilizing visualization in dance instruction. 



Duane is an active and versatile dancer, and has trained under various professionals including Deanna Destito, 

John Burella, and Ashle Dawson. He has been a part of "Dead Mans Party" as a featured performer for the last 2 years at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Duane has mastered disciplines in Hip Hop, including popping and street jazz. He 

continues to train weekly in all hip hop styles, including locking and breaking. Aside from hip hop, he is efficient in contemporary and jazz. He has won numerous awards at various competitions. His work can be seen at competitive events, festivals, and showcases across New Jersey. Duane is active in the competition circuit.

Miss Alicia


Alicia Pagan is excited to teach this season at Studio B! She started dancing at the age of 2 and studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Acrobatics, and Pointe. She was a member of dance teams and competed 

regionally and nationally.

After graduation, Alicia attended Middlesex County College making the dance ensemble and was asked to choreograph after her first semester. While at MCC she was Dance Team Captain, Dance Club President, and received the Excellence in Dance Award.

Alicia graduated with an AA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Dance and continued her education at the José Limón Institute in New York City where she received a certification in José Limón Modern Technique. 

Alicia has performed original pieces with Lustig Dance Theatre (Jangala & A Jazzy Nutcracker) and was a member of the Solo Danza Company for 4 years. Her choreography credits include seven years of original pieces at MCC, original choreography of My Mother's Song, five years of choreographing for the play at St John Vianny's (Colonia, NJ)  and 14 years of teaching throughout NJ where her choreography has won National Titles, Choreography Awards, and has placed in the Top 10. She is Acrobatic Arts certified and also has her Bachelor's in Creative Writing and English

Miss Melissa


Melissa began dancing at the age of three at a local dance studio in Keyport, NJ.  Her interest has always been in the disciplines of tap, jazz, and acrobatics.  She began competing and performing in showcases by the age of 8 and continued through high school.  She attended the dance program at Red Bank Performing Arts High School and after graduating attended Berkeley College to obtain a degree is Business Administration.   After college, Melissa began teaching tap, jazz, and acrobatics at a local studio where she studied for 6 years.  

Dancing professionally was never a goal, her passion is working with children to improve their self-image, achieve their goals, and most importantly - enjoy dance.  Over the years she has volunteered her time to work with children at local camps, school performances, and privately to improve specific skills.

Melissa remains very connected to the dance world, attends classes at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and enjoys watching her daughter have the same love for the arts that she has.

Miss Kerry


Kerry trained for 15 years with a competitive studio and competed for her high school dance team. She then attended The College of New Jersey where she competed at the collegiate level for a year. Now she studies Education at Rutgers University and participates in Rutgers Performing Dance Company where she both performs and helps choreograph. She has been assisting and teaching for 2 years and continuing her dance education by attending The American Ballet Theatre Teacher Certification  in New York City. Kerry is beyond excited to be joining Studio B. 

Miss Laura


Laura was just 2 years old when she began training at a local hometown dance studio. By the age of 9, Laura was competitively training in numerous forms of dance, but really excelled at contemporary, jazz, and acrobatics throughout her young career. In 2018, Laura received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts-Dance from Middlesex County College. She received the “Excellence in the Study of Dance” award for her dedication in class and with the Dance Ensemble. This past year, Laura was welcomed as a new crew member of Groove National Dance Competition. Laura currently performs with The Artistic Visions Dance Company and has choreographed numerous pieces for the NJAHPERD Annual Conventions. 

Miss Zoe -Student Teacher


Zoe has been dancing since the age of five, learning her passion for dance at a very young age. She is well trained in a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, contemporary, and hip hop. Being apart of a competition team for five years, She has earned numerous special judges awards, overall awards, and scholarships, where she had the opportunity to train with well known choreographers. For the past three years, Zoe has been apart of the Dance Academy at Matawan High School, where she was selected to choreograph a piece performed at the academy showcase. Zoe is very excited for the opportunity to student teach at Studio B, and can’t wait to share her knowledge and love for dance! 

Miss Jayme - Substitute Teacher


Jayme Gordano has been dancing her whole life.  She grew up learning the art form from Barbara Gonzalez since she was 2 1/2 years old. She competed and won various awards at a local studio. Jayme participated in benefits such as Hurricane Katrina Relief, Sunshine Kids Foundation, and even danced for Disney’s Magic Music Days! She then continued her studies in college at Georgian Court University as a dance major. She found multiple opportunities to dance with world known choreographers, such as Nick Demoura, tWitch, and Geo Hubela, just to name a few. Keeping her studies up to date, Jayme still attends workshops such as Monsters of Hip Hop. Jayme was also featured in a dance company called Marked Dance Project for disabled and non-disabled dancers.  Jayme has been teaching for 9 years. She is experienced in teaching hip hop, contemporary, jazz, acrobatics, lyrical and pom. Jayme also appears as a guest artist at dance studios in New Jersey, and she works for Dancers Inc. competitions and conventions. 

Miss Kali - Substitute Teacher


Kali Lynch graduated from the University of the Arts with a BFA in Jazz Dance Performance. She has performed with dance companies in NYC and at the Philly Fringe Festival. Kali has been teaching for nine years concentrating in Jazz and Contemporary dance. She has a passion for teaching and has choreographed at several award winning competitive dance studios and performing arts high schools. Kali Lynch has received multiple high scoring awards including a World Title at the World Dance Championship. She loves teaching all students and seeing their growth and passion through the art of dance. 

Miss Sam - Substitute Teacher


Samantha Biggs started training and competing around the age of 7 in all styles of dance including: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Modern, and Contemporary to name a few. Samantha is a graduate of the Somerset County Vocational High School Dance Program where she trained extensively in concert dance, choreographed for annual shows and took park in nationally based dance festivals.  From there, she was accepted into Marymount Manhattan College, as a dance major where she was able to study the Horton and Graham techniques among many others. Samantha studied at MMC for two years before continuing her education at Rutgers University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies and a Minor in Dance. 
Samantha's performance credits include a music video as part of the Hollywood Summer Tour, Kelly Clarkson’s “What Doesn’t Kill You” music video and was part of the New Jersey Devils Dancers for the 2011-2014 National Hockey League seasons where she performed in front of 17,000 fans at games. Most recently Samantha completed her certification as a Pilates instructor and has found her passion as teaching and choreographing for various studios around New Jersey.

Guest Artists

Olga Karmansky


Olga is an acrobat and flexibility/contortion instructor, teaching in NYC and worldwide. She works to improve the flexibility of professional ballet dancers, acrobats and competitive dancers of all levels. Olga began to form her advanced but egalitarian training philosophy while living and training with the Russian Olympic team, and believes her students will achieve extreme results regardless of age, previous injury or level of experience. Olga most recently appeared as an aerialist and contortionist in 20th Century Fox's The Greatest Showman (Starring Hugh Jackman). Performance highlights include Original Cast Broadway revival of PIPPIN (dir. Diane Paulus of "Hair," "Porgy & Bess" & chor. Gypsy Snider of 7 doigts, "Traces"), Iris in The Tempest at Shakespeare In The Park (Director Michael Greif of "Rent", "Next To Normal"), Panic at the Disco Tour (MTV Music Video of The Year), Gymnastics Superstars Tour (USA Post-Olympic Gymnastics Tour) and the Venice Biennale International Art Festival (Venice, Italy). She has been featured on Refinery 29 and performed stunts on the TV shows The Americans, Jessica Jones, Comedy Central's The President Show and has performed for Usher. Olga is a US Champion and two-time Pan American Champion in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Official Olympic Alternate Athens, Greece. She holds a B.S. in Applied Psychology from New York University.

Alex Vari


Alex is a professional dancer located in New York City.

 Growing up in New Jersey she trained             

in all styles of dance from Ballet to Bollywood.  

After graduating from High School, Alex continued her dance training at the well renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York City; in the Professional Semester. During that time she studied with Derek Mitchell, Sheila Barker, Tracie Stanfield, Jim Cooney, Chio Yamada and many more. 

Since then, Alex has continued her training in New York. She has had the pleasure to work with some amazing companies and choreographers; Derek Mitchell Company, Jane Doe, Diwakar Performing Arts, Michael Susten and Company and Koin & Co to name a few. She also has had the pleasure to assist Sheila Barker, which has been an amazing experience and a lifetime goal. 

Alex is currently working with many dance companies, as well as teaching all over New York and New Jersey. 

Shana Bonetti


Shana Bonetti, originally from Bridgewater, New Jersey, is a graduate of the University at Buffalo where she trained in ballet, modern, jazz and contemporary. She earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts and dance performance, graduating Cum Laude. After school, Shana decided to explore her options in the area of choreography. As a staff member for the New Jersey Governors School for the Arts, she was able to set work on young aspiring dancers and have it sent to the National High School Dance Festival. It was through this experience that Shana decided to start working at the competition level. She has taught all over the tri-state area winning numerous awards for both high score and choreography on both the regional and national level. Shana believes there is nothing better than seeing your story come to life on your hard working dancers. Recently, Shana was able to dance as a guest performer with “Moe-tion Dance Co.” a modern dance company out of New Jersey. She believes that staying current and educated is the key to success. It is from all of her experiences from studio life to Buffalo to company dancing that she has evolved a love for choreography and will continue to share her knowledge and art for many years to come.​


Elijah Morton


My professional experience within the dance and entertainment industry includes being the dancer, choreographer, teacher, movement coach, artistic director, creative director, and business owner.  I have had the opportunity to work with all ages and techniques of performers in various studios around the country, multiple dance conventions and competitions, creatively directed for onstage productions, as well as music videos and performances on camera. My experience has given me the tools necessary to work with artists, students, and professionals inside the classroom, to staging productions, and creative directing stage shows as well as commercial shoots.
